Setapp student3/11/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So pretty much just on subscription services I’d be paying: $9.5 USD On a one time payment I’d have to pay: $135 dollars Out of this list these are the prices: Adguard Pro - Subscription Service - In my country this is $1.5 currently due to it being discounted Aldente Pro - Subscription service - $1 per month Paste - Subscription service - $2 per month (this is just a clipboard manager, I can use my Alfred clipboard but I ended up really liking the look and usability of Paste) Swish - One time payment - $6 USD Bartender - One time payment - $15 USD Cloud mounter - One time payment - $45 USD CleanShotX - One Time payment (without lifetime updates, I must say this app is frequently updated so I’d rather pay for a subscription) - $30 USD Yoink - One time payment - $9 USD Mission Control Plus - One time payment - Around $10 USD Better touch tool - Lifetime license - $20 USD Ulysses - Subscription based (this is just a ripoff) - $5 USD a month or $50 USD a year Plus you also get a VPN which Im going to say its not exactly the best but it works, works with HBO and Netflix and ALL VPNS are subscription based. So because of this post I ended up revisiting my Setapp subscription to really see if I deem it worth it, I have 25 apps installed of them I use around 14 regularly, 10 of them every single day Here’s the list of the ones I deem a must have for me:Īdguard Pro, - Aldente Pro (this tool single handedly saved me from Mac trouble, for some reason my Mac used to reset after long periods of time being left alone while charged, its been a month since I installed this app and I have never had it reset), - CleanMyMac, -Paste, -Swish, -Cloudmounter (started using it recently, I gotta say I absolutely love it), -CleanShotX (absolutely love and need this app in my life), -Yoink, -Bartender, -Mission Control Plus, -Better Touch Tool, -ChatMate for whatsapp and - Ulysses this is not used everyday but I definitively like it as a writing tool. Proxyman for API and web page request debugging Paletro for VS Code like command palettes everywhere There are at least 20 Setapp apps that I use in my workflow every single day.ĬleanMyMac X for system maintenance and malware removalĬloudMounter for mounting my S3 bucket as a disk drive I bought practically everything in Setapp before I got Setapp and I love it because I don't have to pay for nor manage upgrades anymore. ![]() Having a SetApp subscription unlocks a vast amount of functionality and you’re bound to find something in there that will work well for you, but it might be worth doing just temporarily as a kind of extended trial period for all the apps on it Like it probably would’ve been cheaper in the long run for me to just buy Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul on iTunes or whatever but keeping the subscription would mean you get to keep seeing what else is on there and maybe catch something good now and then You don’t have to like every movie on Netflix to justify keeping it. But like Netflix, wether the sub is worth it for you depends on the content being subscribed to. You pay to have access to everything but nobody really expects to be able to take advantage of 100% of its content. Not having to worry about wether or not the app I want is a subscription, or having to deal with different payment systems & licensing…it deals with all that very gracefully. For me it was worth having CleanShotX, Ulysses, iStatMenus, MindNode, and a selection of YouTube video downloaders, plus a few other miscellaneous things. As to whether or not it’s worth keeping the subscription long term, it depends on how many of the included apps you use regularly and how they’re priced outside of SetApp. ![]()
